Education and/or Experience:
High School graduate or equivalent required. Previous experience with an electric cooperative or other utility preferred, but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
Job Knowledge:
Must be able to read and interpret maps, staking sheets, display good math skills, and show initiative to learn new skills. Some basic knowledge of objectives and engineering practices associated with the operation of an electric cooperative is desired. Should be able to acquire within a reasonable time span knowledge of Diverse Power Incorporated’s (DPI) service order procedures. Must have a working knowledge of system geography. Expected to work toward Certification as a System Operator.
Abilities and Skills:
Ability to become proficient in the use of analysis software to perform responsibilities, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Must be able to operate standard office equipment including computers, calculators, scanners, etc. Must be able to deal with a variety of people under varying circumstances. Must be able to organize work, set priorities and complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Clear speaking voice for radio transmission. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public. Able to work under high levels of stress and inclement conditions.
Position Summary:
Provide ongoing consumer service through the coordination of service orders and dispatching. Manages the power grid from the control center. Provides for routine service restoration and emergency service restoration. Monitors and operates the SCADA system, Outage Management System (OMS), fire protection system, security system, radio system, Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) system, and fiber/communication system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs personally the following:
1. Creates, routes, schedules and assigns service orders to appropriate personnel. Processes and scans service orders.
2. Maintains job log system. Tracks job from initiation to completion and updates throughout the process. Keeps locate tickets updated for jobs in will call system.
3. Enters and maintains new locations and security light locations in UPN.
4. Receives consumer calls on outages or other hazardous conditions and dispatches appropriate manpower and/or equipment.
5. Dispatches duty personnel on routine and emergency calls.
6. Obtains emergency locate tickets as needed.
7. Enters response codes online at Georgia811.
8. Maintains and updates Outage Management System (OMS). Enters outages, assessments, run fault locators and reports.
9. Notifies the supervisor and/or appropriate personnel of any outages, emergencies and/or any other situation that would require his/her attention. Calls supervisor for additional help as needed.
10. Must be available as needed for major outages during irregular, nonscheduled hours.
11. Stays familiar with procedures for handling “MAYDAY” calls.
12. Keeps informed of any conditions or major line changes that affect the normal feed status of DPI’s power & fiber/communication systems.
13. Monitors the weather systems and reports any activities that could affect normal system operations.
14. Monitors and ensures the security system is working properly. Including security cameras and gates.
15. Operates the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) system.
16. Maintains the Mobile Service-Link dispatch system.
17. Monitors and operates the SCADA system. Obtains and removes hot line tags and R-switches; open/close protection devices and performs other functions within the system.
18. System Operator Certification (SOC), through a self-taught course, is expected to be completed within a five (5) year period. This course is currently offered through the Northwest Lineman College and will be paid for and organized by Diverse Power. SOC typically requires three to four years (150+ hours) to study, test, and complete with approximately 22 sections and exams.

Working Conditions:
Office position. Non-Regular shift hours, which will include overtime during nights, weekends and holidays.
External Relationships:
• Member-Consumers: Advises and assists member-consumers in every way possible. Takes advantage of the opportunity to obtain increased understanding and acceptance of cooperative objectives, policies, plans and programs.
• General Public: Maintains friendly, cooperative relationships with the general public in the performance of responsibilities.
• Vendors: Receives and exchanges information.
